About us
Findings
The Ocean is the primary source of life on Earth. It is the millions of ocean creatures and lives it harbours that absorb CO2, produce oxygen and regulate the climate.
Our food system is its primary source of destruction.
In wealthy countries, our excessive consumption of fish from intensive farming threatens the Ocean and everything that depends on it: climate stability, human health, global food justice and animal welfare.
More than half of the fish we eat comes from intensive farms. Intensive farming of carnivorous fish does not reduce overfishing — it intensifies it.
To feed a single farmed salmon, up to 440 wild fish are caught and ground into fishmeal, at the expense of coastal communities that depend on them directly for their livelihoods.

Vision
Seastemik envisions an Ocean teeming with life, protected by a plant-based diet that guarantees the habitability of the planet: climate stability, human health, global food justice and animal welfare.
The problem is systemic — so must be the response.

Mission
Reduce our dependence on fish-based diets, to rewild the Ocean.
Guide the transition away from intensive fish farming, salmon above all, and towards the development of plant-based food that delights the palate without emptying the Ocean.
Moving from ocean cuisine... to ocean restoration.
