Blue Food Transition — Coming Soon!

Seastemik runs a research and awareness programme to produce and disseminate the evidence and arguments needed to shift narratives and dietary practices. We have already produced 2 reports and PinkBombs, an unprecedented platform that exposes the global impact of the salmon industry in numbers and images.

We are currently launching TABle, a collaborative project to define Blue Food Transition scenarios. Further studies are underway on human health (pollutant impacts), social justice and biodiversity (the impact of fishmeal fishing on marine species).

Corporate — The Programme to Engage

Seastemik is launching the iodine revolution by bringing on board food service professionals: using an Ocean Footprint calculator, Seastemik helps catering businesses reduce their fish-based offerings and develop plant-based and ocean-inspired recipes that delight the palate without emptying the Ocean. With training programmes and digital tools, Seastemik adapts to each company's needs to enable a rapid, large-scale transition in the service of ocean protection.

Intensive fish farming — The Programme to Frame

Seastemik runs a programme to regulate the production of fish from intensive farming. In response to the salmon industry's growth ambitions, false sustainable innovations are emerging: land-based intensive farms, known as RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture Systems). This new industry displaces and amplifies the ecological and social pressures of salmon production across the entire planet. Together with a coalition of 27 major French NGOs — including FNH, Ligue des droits de l'Homme, Greenpeace France, Oxfam, Welfarm, Sea Shepherd France and Pleine Mer — we are calling for a ten-year moratorium on the development of such farms in France. A legislative proposal, put forward by Anne Stambach-Terrenoir, Benoit Biteau and Damien Girard, has received cross-party support from 110 members of parliament.
